My I Spy QuiltI hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We had a houseful of relatives, friends and food. Doesn't get much better! December and January are generally the time of the year that I'm home thinking about new classes. I recently made my 18 month old grandson an I spy quilt. In the process I also made a class sample. If you a have a special little one in your life they are a unique, educational gift and fun to make. Watch for upcoming classes in 2012.
Do you have a quilt pattern you'd like to learn? Let me know, it may be one I've been wanting to make too. In January I have a few classes scheduled. At Boersma's in McMinnville, Oregon I have Irish Snails scheduled for Saturday, January 14th. Also scheduled is Lone Star on January 18th. If you've been wanting to try hand quilting I have a class scheduled at the Quilted Hill in Yamhill, Oregon on Friday, January 20th. If you love traditional quilts, the Pickle Dish is scheduld at the Quilted Hill on Saturday January 28th. It may be a traditional pattern but can look more modern with batiks or newer styled fabrics.
If you have a group of friends who want to get together for a class, contact me and we can make it happen.
Happy Quilting, Peggy
I'm intrigued with the 60 degree angle. Several of my quilts are made using pieces cut at a 60 degree angle versus what we're used to at 90 and 45 degrees. I've just completed a quilt top using a variety of different hexagon blocks.
Grandkids are the greatest! I have three grandsons, Nathan 12, Aidan, almost 10 and Oren 19 months old. The end of June I had the opportunity and pleasure to take care of Oren for a week while his daycare was on vacation. It was a huge treat to have him at our house but oh my, I know why we have our kids when we are young. He's a busy little boy...all boy, mud puddles and all.
I'm busy working at three baby quilts. From a simple design I created on Electric Quilt, I've been able to use lots of my stash. The quilt measures approximately 40"x50" depending on how much border fabric I have. The stars are finished 8" square and the sashing is 1" wide. Adding stripped fabric in the sashing is fun and adds movement to the quilt.
Where did April go and we're halfway through May. Wow.... I've had two out of town trips in April, one to teach and one personal. 25 years ago on May 3rd we adopted our daughter Allison. The picture was taken May 3, 1986, Our son's Travis and Ian and families along with us went to California to surprise her for her anniversary.
