Quick Baby Quilt

baby_quilt

I'm busy working at three baby quilts. From a simple design I created on Electric Quilt, I've been able to use lots of my stash. The quilt measures approximately 40"x50" depending on how much border fabric I have. The stars are finished 8" square and the sashing is 1" wide. Adding stripped fabric in the sashing is fun and adds movement to the quilt. Sometimes I purchase some fun fabric for the borders and use my stash, match the border, to create the stars. When you need a baby quilt in a hurry they are a quick project and are also a good size to practice machine quilting. I'll be happy when they are completed and in the mail!

60th_007_webI hope the sun is finally shining where you live. It's been a long wet spring in our part of Oregon and we're due for some warmth. Checking out the yard this morning, it's amazing how much has bloomed over the last couple days. All my plants are well watered, just waiting for some sunshine.

On May 19th my parents were married 60 years. That's a long time. To celebrate all my Mom really wanted was for all the kids to be there and have a picture of everyone together. We almost had everyone. Our daughter Allison just couldn't get away to come up from California. It was fun to have everyone together for a picture and my cousin Darcy did a fabulous job on picture taking. Very precise but fun in positioning everyone.

I have a new toy...not totally quilt related, an iPad. What fun! I read a review of tablets, not iPad specific ,just the pros and cons. The review said they don't replace a cell phone nor do they replace a computer but it's hard to put them down. That's the truth. I have downloaded pictures of all my classes so during a class when someone asked me what else I teach I can actually show them. The iPad is fun but it will also be helpful.

Classes that are coming up a Pineapple Quilt class at the Quilted Hill in Yamhill, Oregon. That will be Friday, June 17th. On Saturday, Junme 18th is a Storm at Sea class at Canby Quilts in Canby, Oregon. If you are local and interested in either of these class contact the shops direct.

Hope this finds you well....quilting and gardening.

Enjoy, Peggy
