Hello again. This has been a busy travel month. After coming home from Southern California I spent an overnight in Scappoose, Oregon teaching Storm at Sea for the Columbia River Piecemakers. Very nice group of ladies, as are all quilters! It was a great class with some very creative Storm at Sea quilts. Several ladies used picture panels or batik pictures to insert into their quilts. Author Wendy Mathson did a fabulous job writing "A New Light on Storm at Sea Quilts" and creating a great set of rulers that make the Storm at Sea quilt very easy to make.
I wanted to tell you about CJ's Dream Quilt Retreats. Earlier in the month I had the opportunity to teach for Cece Johnson who is the organizer of CJ's Dream Quilt Retreats. The retreats are held in Cannon Beach, Oregon in a beautiful, large home high on a hill with a gorgeous view of the ocean, the beach and Tillamook Head Lighthouse. The sewing room is located over the garage in a large two bedroom apartment. The large living room is all windows. The machines are set up next to the windows so you can drink in the gorgious view while you sew.
Besides a great sewing location, Cece is a wonderful cook. Imagine a quilt retreat with Prime Rib and Chicken Cordon Bleu and all the trimmings. Along with wonderful meals, snacks galore are also provided. If you'd like to attend a very dreamy quilt retreat check out Cece's facebook page at CJ's Quilt Retreats or contact her by phone at 503-791-0857 or by e-mail at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Her next set of retreats will be the weekends of October 22, 29 and November 5 and 12th.
I've had other travels last month and will catch on those next time. Happy Quilting! Peggy
