Visit to Wrangell, Alaska

downtown_wrangellMarch was a busy travel month and as much as I love meeting new quilters and sharing quilting techniques and patterns, it's nice to be home for more than a few days in a row. My last trip in March was to visit with the Stikine Stitchers in Wrangell, Alaska. My family and I lived in Wrangell for a year, 25 years ago. It was fun to return there, see the changes to the community and get reaquainted with a few ladies I'd met years ago. Wrangell has a new museun, the James and Elsie Nolan Center. There are wonderful displays of local history, artifacts and wildlife. Besides the museum part of the facility, it is a wonderful conference center. If you have the opportunity, don't miss it. Read More Besides visiting the community my time spent with the Stikine Stitchers was great fun. Four classes, Hunter's Star, Pickle Dish, hand quilting, and needle turn applique filled the four days along with sight seeing with my hosts, Gene and Olinda White. It was a wonderful visit with very nice people, a quaint little town, beautiful weather and breathtaking Alaska scenery.

Since I've been home I've had a Storm at Sea class with a group of ladies in Tigard, Oregon. Organized by Bonnie Fletcher, they are a group of quilters from around the area and from different group who just get together to take a class. If you have a group who would like to take a class but you haven't found a shop that offers what you're interested in I'd be happy to come to your group. Let me know and we can pick a class you'd like to take and set a date.

I hope wherever you live you're enjoying spring. It hasn't come to my part of Oregon yet. We're still experiencing quite a bit of rain. This morning it was 35 degrees and we had a layer of snow on our cars. If it holds true that April showers bring May flowers we will be inundated with flowers. Happy Spring, whatever weather you have.  Peggy
